Good afternoon and a warm welcome to the first second round match. These matches are over three session now and Peter and Mark play 8 frames this afternoon...

Mark King is quick out of the blocks and he's got a decent chance here, he's already made 44... this is a great start by King, onto 60, he needs one more red to clinch the frame... Peter Ebdon bounces back in the second, he's on a run of 44, a clever plant to move on to 59 but he's lost position, he's put the green safe as a bit of insurance... King has found a red and can mount a comeback into this frame... and it's a good break, 42 and they're on the yellow.. King has left the yellow for Ebdon and Ebdon is now 21 ahead on the pink... and that's enough to level the match... this is good from both players so far, Ebdon has made 40 so far at this visit albeit that Ebdon got a fluke to get started... a brilliant red to keep the break going which is now up to 52... and there it ends as Ebdon loses position... King flukes the penultimate red but gets no position, that doesn't help his cause as Ebdon leads 57-23 now on the last red... King's got Ebdon in a near impossible snooker, this is yielding some points, 8 so far... Ebdon's made a good escape at the third attempt.. still the drama continues on the yellow, both have missed it, and both have got away with it... there's a quite brilliant swerve shot by Ebdon to get out of that snooker... and now King has stuck the yellow up, but the green is safe... King's got it and now he needs pink and black to nick the frame.. great shot to get on the black and what a frame to win.. Ebdon strokes in an exquisite red to give himself a nice chance  in frame four, he was cueing from tight under the rail.. only 18 thought from that visit... King's back on a scoring visit... he makes 28 but he's let Ebdon back in for 38 and Ebdon leads 56-28 and now 66-32 and that's too much for King to pull back so 2-2 at the interval.

King got the first chance in the fifth but he's unlucky to get a thumping kick and that's given Ebdon a chance... 29 for Ebdon but now an important tactical exchange has developed... King has taken 3 minutes to work out a safety shot and it's a good one again.. Ebdon taps the table in congratulation... this is a cracking match so far, both have made good breaks and the safety has been brilliant... and Ebdon's forced into the error... an easy red for King... King's revival this season is partly due to the hard work's he's been doing with former Pro Chris Archer... Chris was pro from 1991-98, not well know, he reached the dizzy heights of World No 420 at that time... but he's proving very effective as coach and mentor to King... Mark is now 67 ahead in this frame and only 59 left... Ebdon is making good progress in frame six, he's constructed 46 now, but needs to split some reds up... he's done that and now this 73 has clinched the frame, can he make a century, no but that 79 brings the match level.. Ebdon's put himself in trouble here, snookered himself on all the reds, and they're quite open, so it's the end of his run of 37, can he get them safe, no. Ebdon has King in trouble now with the safety... now Ebdon has the chance to close out the frame.. he's 47-34 up with two reds left... great hilarity all round as King is snookered and moves everything in a failed escape... Brendan Moore has to get the balls back, and does a great job, aided by the play back machine... King hits the red this time... net results is Ebdon now leads 52-34 on the last red, 56-34 now as King goes in off... Ebdon is 28 up on the green ... he's won the frame now.... and duly encouraged Ebdon is flying through a break in the last frame of the afternoon, he's 80 ahead with this run of 46 and he's going to lead 5-3.

Good morning, a warm welcome back to the second, of three, sessions of this round two match... Mark King is first to create a scoring chance, he's rattled through this break, already on 56 but there the break ends, King leads 62-0, there are still six reds left so the frame isn't safe yet... Ebdon's won the safety exchange and he's got a chance to retrieve this frame... and he does, what a brilliant 73 clearance and what a blow to Mark King... A scoring opportunity for King in frame ten... he's missed and Ebdon is doing some damage here, already over the 50 mark.. the break ends but he leads 58-16... King's getting right back into the frame, onto 38 and he needs pink and black to pinch the frame.. a good pink but he's faced with a very thin black, or will he play safe... safe... King's got the black and what a vital frame he's won there.

King's potted a red but let Ebdon straight in with a scoring chance... Ebdon's needed two visits so far, but he's moved 34-14 ahead now and as his break reaches 49, he's won the frame and stretched his lead to 7-4... the early safety in frame twelve has pushed all the reds to one side of the table, we could have a long tactical exchange now, Ebdon's picked off 27 points, King has missed on 12, but the red still aren't sitting kindly for any substantial contribution.. King's closed to 25-27, now Ebdon has pulled away to lead 50-25, the last two reds are both close together on the top cushion... he played a great shot to split them but wasn't on one, and he's left one on for King. the last red is still on the table, a lot of fouls one way and another but that one from King leaves the red on for Ebdon... this is a forlorn hope for King but he's playing on, needs three snookers... that blue puts it beyond doubt and Ebdon marches on, 8-4 up now at the interval... Ebdon's moving ahead in the next frame... he's broken down, and he's let Mark in with a chance, the reds are scattered all over the table.. and a good reply by King, he's 69-35 up, two reds left and he's chipped one off the cushion.. he's missed the red, end of break at 41, so Ebdon trails by 34 with 43 still on... both reds safe now.. Ebdon is stealing this frame from King here, he needs the remaining six colours... well you couldn't place the ball there, somehow he's sandwiched the white between black and pink and snookered himself on the blue... King leads by 16 so he just needs the blue... he lays the snooker, Ebdon misses the escape so now needs a snooker... King reduces the deficit to three frames.

King lets an early chance slip and a poor safety lets Ebdon in... the break reaches 39, he's 53-14 ahead... King battles on, two reds left, he trails by 46 so needs a snooker, he's not going to get it, Ebdon clears up to lead 9-5... King is moving ahead in this frame, and this will probably be the last frame of the session now, to avoid them over-running in the afternoon's play... King progresses to 44, the break ends at 55... King is furious... he's left a sitter for Ebdon... he can't covert that chance, but he's got another now, there are two reds left and he's 30 behind, he's played safe and King is 26 up on the last red... Ebdon's potted a brilliant last red, he's on the brown which was awkward before, so no he can clear up to take the frame... Ebdon's seething, he's got a kick on the green and it's stayed on the jaws... and King's won the frame and that is the last of the session. Good evening, this match will be played to a finish tonight, a possible ten frames as they were pulled off a frame early this morning... King has opened a 31-0 lead, now Ebdon has a chance to make inroads into King's 48 point lead... and he does, he's 80-48 ahead on the brown, King's got one of the snookers he needs, he still wants two more... Ebdon sinks the blue and that puts the frame out of King's reach... Ebdon's is going well in the next frame, up to 28 and now onto 51... 79, frame safe. King has opened a 39 point lead to start frame 18... onto 42-4, both players looking for an opening, King should have had one there but Ebdon's lucky to cover the easy red, a bit more banter between the players and laughter all round, this match has been played in a great spirit, two great characters of the game... and here is an opening for King... and he's done well there, some very awkward shots, he's won the frame... King is off and running again, 51 already, great effort, he's pulled another back and made an excellent century, they go for their interval now... Ebdon's started well after the break, on 31, he's just split the pack and then he misses an easy red.. King lets him off the hook and Ebdon's got another chance... Ebdon leads 53-23 on the yellow.. Ebdon gets the yellow and that should be enough to clinch the frame... King plays on, he needs three snookers on the blue... total frustration for King who tries to lay the snooker but forgot there was a pocket in the way... Ebdon's reduced to giggles as well... and so he should be, that's another frame on the board and he's just one frame from the quarter finals now.. King won't go down without a fight, he's on a run of 31 but the break's going to end here, he's out of position... King's in again, now 71 ahead and only 59 left... Could this be the chance that Ebdon's been waiting for to close out the match.. he's on 27, with a 36-4 lead, but he's struggling for position... Ebdon's had one of the infamous springy bounces and he's having to work very hard to keep on the reds, but he's made 47, leads 56-4 and there are five reds left, three on them in a little cluster on the top cushion... that's a good red, and now 59 up with 59 left... the next one stays in the jaws, but it's a mountain for King to climb now. King take a pink with the red so now needs a  snooker... he's not going to get it... Peter Ebdon goes through to the quarters to play either Neil Robertson or Stephen Maguire
