Biography

Although still only just seventeen, Jamie already bears the burden of being singled out as a future star of the professional scene, following in the footsteps of recent Welsh Juniors to progress to the pro ranks.
He not only dominates his own age group, which in the 2000-2001 season was Under 13, he finished top of the Under 15 and Under 17 rankings. He repeated the achievement in 2001-2 winning every Under 14 event and two Under 16 events, before turning his attention to the Under 18 group where he finished second in the rankings. To top it off he reached the final of the Under 21 championship, earning himself a trip to Latvia as the youngest Welsh player to achieve such an honour, and he went on to reach the last 16.
In January 2002 he was selected by the Swansea Evening Post to appear before a packed crowd at the Brangwyn Hall Swansea, to play Ronnie O'Sullivan in an exhibition frame, as a prelude to the Daily Star Premier League. He thoroughly upstaged the 2001 World champion by clearing the table with a frame winning break of 69. When the tv coverage was shown in Australia, one fan was so enthusiastic he wrote to ask Jamie for his autograph.
In July 2002 Jamie helped the Welsh Under 14 team to victory in the 110sport Junior Nations Cup and the Under 14s heroics helped Wales to the overall title.

2003 brought success with the Welsh team, as they lifted the Home international Junior title, but for Jamie 2004 will be the year he remembers.

In April he played near flawless snooker to lift the European Under 19 title. Invited then to compete in the European Championship, he stormed through the group stage, eventually reaching the last 16 before losing a deciding frame shoot out to England's Eddie Cooper.

In July 2004 it was off to Ireland for the IBSF World Under 21 Championship. Here he reached the quarter finals, before failing 6-4 to event runner up Kobkit Palajin.

He had one season in 2004-5 on the WSA Challenge Tour before that was replaced by the PIOS Tour and he's made a good start with a quarter final in the first event.
