Andrew first played snooker
when he was 10, introduced to the game by his dad. His family
bought him a small table, but he spent as much time as he could
at the Widnes Snooker Centre, which remained his base until it
burnt down in summer 2000.
He has now rented a small unit and put his own
table in, where he enjoys regular practice games with nearby
professional neighbours, Craig Harrison, Jason Barton and Wayne
Brown.
Having enjoyed a successful junior career in the
north west snooker hot bed, where he won singles and doubles
titles in Merseyside and North West championships, he turned
professional in 1996, but the breakthrough didn’t come until the
1999-2000 season, when he won the second UK Tour event. He also
notched his highest tournament break in the last 32 of the
second event, with a 138 total clearance against Robert James.
He finished in third place on the UK Tour Order
of Merit to earn his place on the Main WSA Tour in 2000.
Since his promotion he's worked his way steadily up the rankings
to a high of 68 going into the 2003-4 season.
Apart from snooker, Andrew enjoys golf, squash
and keeping fit down at his local gym.
