A run of four wins through the amateur stages took Tuerxun
into the main draw of the 2001 World Championship. He beat
German Lasse Munstermann in round one before losing out to
Hugh Abernethy in round two.
Also in 2001 he enjoyed a unique experience, in
being part of china's team in the Nations Cup, facing up to
the world's best players.
