Stephen Hendry's wife Mandy, has given birth to the couple's second child.

The baby boy, who weighed in at 5lbs following a caesarean section, will be named Carter J. Hendry and will provide a baby brother for Blaine Hendry.

Mother and baby, (and dad) are said to be doing well, and the news is all the more joyous following the tragic loss of their expected baby in May 2003.

Hendry married Mandy in June 1995 and son Blaine was born in October 1996.

The couple met when Hendry was competing at the annual Pontins Festival in Prestatyn.

Mandy, a keen horsewoman, was there with her family, all regular snooker players, including Mandy's sister Maria who was a regular competitor on the World Ladies' circuit in the 1980s and 90s.

Seven year old Blaine has recently gained his first snooker title, winning a 'beginners tournament' at Spencer's Leisure in Stirling.
