UAE win Three Gold Medals                                                                                                    31 December 2004

The United Arab Emirates team maintained their remarkable record in the GCC Gulf Cup, winning the Team Gold Medal for the Twelfth time in succession.

A final day victory over Bahrain 2-1 assured UAE of the title.

They added the Singles Gold Medal as well when Essa Al Sayed edged out Bahrain's Habib Subah in a thrilling 4-3 victory.

Subah led 3-2 but couldn't apply the finishing touch and Al Sayed battled back to claim the title.

And UAE completed the hat-trick of Gold taking the doubles title as well, despite losing to Bahrain on the final day.

Qatar's Ahmed Saif prevented a clean sweep of UAE Gold by winning the Under 21 title, Qatar's first Gold Medal in the twelve years of the event.
