First Gold For Qatar                                                                                                       29 December 2004
QATAR have won their first ever Gold Medal in the Gulf Cup, thanks to Golden Boy Ahmed Saif, who guaranteed himself the Gold Medal in the Under 21 event, with a game to spare.

Saif beat UAE's Ahmed Abdul Kader 4-1, to notch his fourth consecutive win, for the loss of only 4 frames.

It was a bright spot in an otherwise poor day for Qatar, who lost in the three other matches against UAE.

Essa Al Sayed kept his 100% record intact in the singles with a 4-1 win over Qatar's Mohsen Abdulaziz.

The UAE team held on to top place in the team table, beating Qatar 3-0. The destination of the team title will come down to the match between UAE and Bahrain. UAE are seeking to win the Team title for the 12th consecutive time.

UAE rounded off a good days work with a 3-2 win over Qatar in the Doubles.
