WHITE CUTS PATTEN OUT OF WELSH UNDER 14    11 April 2004

Michael White cruised to his third consecutive Under 14 event win of the season, at the Trecenydd Club Caerphilly, whitewashing Cardiff twelve year old Nathen Patten, who was appearing in his first final.

The Neath potting machine completed victory without dropping a frame all day, and also took the high break, with a run of 73 in the final.

Barry's Mathew Laver made his first semi-final appearance of the season. Laver beat Ben Jones and Luke Pitman and compiled a break of 38, before he ran into White, who smacked in a 40 break in his 2-0 win.

Patten, whose previous best was a semi final last season, broke through that barrier with a 2-1 win over Robert Ford, having previously beaten Natalie Alexander, Twm Sion Jones and Nathan Edwards.

Newport's Perry Foster bounced back from a shock first round defeat by Luke Pitman, to win the Plate. Foster beat Barry's Craig Loxton in the final, collecting breaks of 38, 36 and 32 along the way.

With just the Under 14 championship left to play (on 18 April), competition is hotting up to grab a place in top six on the ranking list, and secure a place on the Welsh International Team to face England in the summer.

Michael White is the runaway leader. Robert Ford's semi final placing moved him up to second, ahead of Perry Foster. Matthew Laver jumped up to fourth following his semi final and Twm Sion Jones and Alex Fussell complete the top six.
